OG tags present, but Facebook posts still broken

Hunter Sizemore 2 years ago • updated by Christine Masters (Director of Product Management) 2 years ago 1
So, the proper og tags are automatically pulled into the header of each article page. However, when we try to post a link from www.dailypost.vu it only shows a small box with the site's domain in it. No headline, photo or description.

One major stumbling block to this was almost certainly the robots.txt file, which in its default state prohibits all but a small number of whitelisted bots from crawling the site. We have now fixed that, but the Open Graph Debugger still comes back with "Document returned no data " when testing our pages.

Everything appears fine with the CNAME. There is a theory in the office that our abysmal time-to-first-byte is the culprit. Any further thoughts on how we can make our posts to Facebook work properly would be appreciated.

Regards,
Hunter

Google feed api

Daniel Buford 3 years ago 0
I'm trying to add several feeds my mobile site using google's feed api. I've gotten the feed to work and when viewed from the desktop site everything works properly. However, in the mobile site adding the html causes other widgets not to display or to display improperly.
I'm including a copy of the code I'm using. Any ideals would be helpful.

<style>
#wrapper {
width: 100%;
max-width: 620px;
margin: auto;
padding: 0px;
display:block;
float:left
}
#WOTD {
font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size:12px;
}
.gfc-resultsHeader {
display: none;
}</style>

<!-- RSS -->
<script src="http://www.google.com/jsapi" type="text/javascript"></script>http://www.google.com/jsapi</a>" type="text/javascript">
<script type="text/javascript">
google.load("feeds", "1");
function OnLoad() {
var feedControl = new google.feeds.FeedControl();
feedControl.addFeed("http://wordsmith.org/awad/rss1.xml");
feedControl.setLinkTarget("google.feeds.LINK_TARGET_BLANK");
feedControl.setNumEntries(1);
feedControl.draw(document.getElementById("WOTD"));
}
google.setOnLoadCallback(OnLoad);
</script>
<!-- RSS END -->

<div data-role="header" data-theme="b" class="ui-header ui-bar-b" role="banner">
<h4 style="text-align:left; margin-left:15px" class="ui-title" role="heading" aria-level="1">Word of the day</h4>
</div>
<div id="wrapper">

Do any of you use the feature where you email breaking news stories to a specific email and the BLOX system posts it as breaking news? Also what is your editing process for this?

Keyboard shortcut for inline notes

William Schmitt 3 years ago • updated by Sarah Taylor 3 years ago 0
In switching from Django to Blox, I've noticed that while both CMS have an in-text notes feature, Blox doesn't have a keyboard shortcut for inline notes (Ctrl+Shift+N in Django). Having this keyboard shortcut would be very helpful, especially in longer assets that require numerous brief notes relating to facts and proper names. Is there any way a similar set of keystrokes could activate inline notes mode in a future Blox release?

Thanks,

Will

Avoid outages: Update your Google, Facebook and Twitter APIs today!

anonymous 3 years ago • updated 3 years ago 0

It's spring, and new APIs are in the air. Google, Facebook and Twitter are updating their authentication procedures, and you may need to take action to ensure that these services continue to work properly with BLOX CMS.We've created a set of handy docs to guide you through the process of updating your authentication settings:

• Our broadcast settings document gives step-by-step instructions for configuring Facebook and Twitter social media broadcasting to use the new APIs.

• Our user authentication doc will guide you through the process of switching to new federated login APIs for Google and Facebook.

Google and Facebook have both set late April deadlines, after which services like federated login and social media broadcasting may fail. Twitter hasn't announced a deadline yet, but why wait? Spring clean your APIs today to sidestep future problems.

In most cases the changes should be painless, but if you have any questions please call TownNews.com customer support at 800-293-9576.

Using Adobe Muse for creating HTML assets?

Jacki Gray 3 years ago • updated 3 years ago 4
Anyone familiar with using Adobe Muse for creating HTML assets?

We found that designing something in Muse and then passing it through Dreamweaver and creating an HTML asset was unsuccessful. It seems like Blox does not like the code or language?

Just looking for input.

block description

Mike Stickler 3 years ago • updated 3 years ago 4
would love to see all block templates have a description custom property. the description would appear on the site as a short sentence or paragraph in small text between the block title and first asset.
