Is anyone using the BLOX podcast feed feature?

We are thinking about adding a podcast at our paper, and I've been looking at the BLOX documentation about setting up a /search/ url to create a home for the podcast feed - but I'm not quite able to visualize how this is supposed to work. It would be nice to see another BLOX site that hosts podcasts to see how it looks and to learn how it was configured. I'd like to have both an iTunes friendly RSS feed, as well as a way to have an asset page for each episode with show notes and a link to the audio. The answer "we have a podcast, but don't host it with BLOX" would also be an interesting.

Our Lancaster Farming website (https://www.lancasterfarming.com/) has this set up. There is a page showing all of the podcast assets https://www.lancasterfarming.com/community/podcasts_and_audio/ and a page set up as a URL with a search skin to generate the iTunes RSS feed.

Is this the sort of example you're looking for?

You can also check out the following sites:

  2. http://lufkindailynews.com/multimedia/podcasts/
  3. https://www.aberdeennews.com/sports/ (about 1/2 way down the page)

We are also in alpha testing upgrading the player to share the code base with the new video player and extend a bit with some new features.

Yes, thanks, that is interesting. So I don't have to have the podcasts under search, as long as the url page has the search skin? And then the audio assets are just assigned to the section tag of /community/podcasts_and_audio?

Our /community/podcast URL has the search skin and all of the Podcast information filled in under the Page customizations. Then the actual audio assets have at least two sections assigned to them -- one is /community/podcast the other is /community/podcasts_and_audio. The podcasts_and_audio section and any other sections are there for pulling content into blocks on section front pages.

Just as an FYI, when you set up your Podcast category, you'll want to use one of the categories listed here  https://help.apple.com/itc/podcasts_connect/?lang=en#/itc9267a2f12

Thanks, this is starting to come together for me now. :-)
